Today we began unpacking the tools God gave us to heal our marriage…and the fidgeting started. Not in every chair, but several. The fidgeting testifies to the discomfort of being vulnerable with one another….revealing our inner hearts. We know how the fidgets feel. We know how fidgeting reflects fear. But, we also know that fidgeting is a necessary part of becoming real.
Becoming real takes risk.
So, we walk around to those who are fidgeting and give them a reassuring nod, a gentle touch, an understanding smile, a nudge over the first hurdle. And, little by little, the fidgeting finally gives way to settling in.
